Are these SEO tactics DEAD in 2025?

Are These SEO Strategies OBSOLETE in 2025?

First off, I want to clarify that Iโ€™m not an SEO specialist. As a fractional CMO for B2B SaaS startups, my expertise lies in strategy, operations, and enhancing overall pipeline performance.

Recently, I enlisted the help of a SaaS SEO agency to support my portfolio clients, and we kicked off our collaboration in early February. I understand that seo requires time to yield results, but I’m beginning to feel like their approach may be based on outdated practices, especially given the rapid advancements in AI and their impact on marketing.

Hereโ€™s a snapshot of what weโ€™re currently working on:

  1. Content & Webpage Audit โ€“ Analyzed existing pages to pinpoint improvement opportunities (e.g., keyword optimization, content gaps, etc.).
  2. Keyword Research & Content Strategy โ€“ Identified key terms and generated over 200 blog content ideas, spanning BOFU, MOFU, and TOFU topics. Weโ€™re aiming to publish about four blogs a month, primarily focusing on BOFU content.
  3. Technical SEO โ€“ Addressing site errors, broken links, and other technical issues.
  4. Software Directory Listings โ€“ Established profiles on over 50 software directories.
  5. Product Landing Pages โ€“ Developing keyword-driven “solutions for X” pages.
  6. Product Inclusion โ€“ Searching for blog opportunities like โ€œTop 10 Sales Enablement Toolsโ€ and investing in placements among the top spots.

So, to all the seo experts out there, is this the right approach for seo in 2025? What elements might be missing or considered outdated?

Iโ€™m looking to determine if Iโ€™m heading in the right direction with this agency or if I should consider finding a more suitable partner or hire.

I appreciate any insights you can share! ๐Ÿ™

One response to “Are these SEO tactics DEAD in 2025?”

  1. It’s great to see you actively engaging with SEO strategies for your SaaS clients, especially in a rapidly changing landscape like 2025! Here are my thoughts on your current tactics and considerations for what’s relevant today:

    1. Content & Webpage Audit: This remains foundational. However, consider integrating more advanced tools that leverage AI for content analysis and suggestions, as they can provide deeper insights beyond traditional keyword gaps.

    2. Keyword Research & Content Planning: The shift toward intent-focused content is crucial. As AI continues to advance, focusing on user intent and conversational queries will be key. Don’t just aim for keywords; think about questions potential customers are asking and how to provide valuable answers.

    3. Technical SEO: This is always relevant. Ensure that your technical SEO efforts also consider mobile optimization and site speed, as these continue to be critical ranking factors in 2025. Additionally, structured data implementation could enhance SERP visibility.

    4. Software Directory Listings: These can be effective, but ensure that youโ€™re also leveraging reviews and customer feedback actively, as they play a significant role in building trust and reputability.

    5. Product Landing Pages: This approach is still powerful. However, enrich these pages with user-generated content, case studies, or testimonials to increase trust and engagement.

    6. Product Inclusion in Lists: This is a smart tactic, but be wary of it becoming overly saturated. Consider supplementing this with outreach strategies that collaborate with industry influencers who can provide authentic endorsements.

    Whatโ€™s Missing/Outdated?

    • AI-Generated Content: While fine-tuning your content strategy with AI tools (like optimizing based on user behavior data) is important, ensure that youโ€™re balancing AI-generated content with genuine human insights and storytelling to keep it unique and engaging.

    • Voice Search Optimization: With the rise of voice-activated devices, incorporating voice search strategies could be beneficial, focusing on how your audience phrases queries naturally.

    • SEO and Community Building: Engaging with online communities, forums, and social media platforms where your target audience gathers can enhance visibility and drive organic traffic. Consider fostering a community around your brand to build authenticity and loyalty.

    • User Experience (UX): As search engines increasingly prioritize user experience, ensure that the design and navigation of your site are user-centric. Analyze user behavior data to optimize site structure and content delivery.

Overall, while many traditional seo strategies are still effective, adapting to new technologies, prioritizing user intent, and integrating a holistic approach to content and community engagement will put you on the right track. It might also be worth evaluating your agencyโ€™s adaptability and innovative thinking in these areas to ensure theyโ€™re aligned with the cutting-edge practices needed in 2025. Good luck!
