My First Ever Web App, a Drinking Game I Played in College Turned Digital

Transforming Nostalgia Into Innovation: Launching My First Web Application

For years, I harbored a desire to create my own software projectโ€”something that would challenge me and push my skills further. Last year marked the moment I finally took the plunge into web development, turning my idea into reality through dedicated learning and hands-on creation.

Throughout this journey, I gained invaluable insights into full-stack development, deployment processes, real-time socket communication, and database optimization. My first major project was a text-based multiplayer game inspired by a classic college drinking gameโ€”a nostalgic favorite of mine. Developing this game taught me humility and a new respect for online multiplayer experiences, especially regarding issues like lag and glitches, which I now understand are part of the development process.

The game features a lobby system that, if not populated by real players (given that the site is newly launched and audience is still growing), automatically fills with bot participants within approximately 15 seconds. This ensures that players can jump right into the action regardless of community size.

This project has been a rewarding exploration of web app development, blending childhood memories with modern technology. I look forward to expanding and refining this application further.
