How do we define artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (the ability to solve problems and make decisions based on that information), and self-correction. AI encompasses a broad range of technologies and methodologies, including Machine Learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and robotics, each of which enables machines to perform tasks traditionally requiring human intelligence. AI can be categorized into two main types: narrow AI, which is designed for specific tasks (like voice recognition or recommendation systems), and general AI, which would possess the ability to understand, learn, and apply intelligence in a way that is indistinguishable from human capabilities across a wide range of tasks. As AI continues to evolve, it is playing an increasingly significant role in various sectors, such as healthcare, finance, transportation, and entertainment, transforming the way we live and work.
