How do I get chatGPT to stop saying ‘excellent question’ in every response?

How to Tame the ChatGPT Compliment Habit

As a frequent user of ChatGPT, I’ve encountered a recurring annoyance that many may relate to: the persistent use of phrases like “excellent question” in almost every interaction. While it may seem like a minor irritation, the constant repetition of these compliments has become increasingly frustrating for me.

Despite my attempts to curb this habit, including multiple requests for the model to refrain from using such phrases, the issue continues. I’ve explicitly asked it to update its memory on five different occasions, stressing the importance of avoiding compliments like “great” or “excellent question.” Unfortunately, after each conversation, it seems to revert back to this familiar pattern.

To clarify, I’ve made it clear through multiple conversations that the use of flattery and niceties is not what I’m looking for. Yet, after a brief hiatus, the model defaults back to its old ways. For anyone else experiencing this peculiar challenge, I understand your frustration.

It’s a reminder that even cutting-edge technology can sometimes engage in behaviors that may not align with our preferences. If you’ve found yourself in a similar situation, it’s worth sharing your experiences and tactics for achieving a more tailored interaction with AI!
