Built a doc upload workflow for a construction PM tool I’m building

Introducing the Document Management Feature in BuildFlow: Streamlining Construction Project Collaboration

At BuildFlow, our mission is to simplify construction project management for small-site teams, such as contractors and subcontractors. We understand that managing documentsโ€”like architectural plans, contracts, and reportsโ€”can be a cumbersome process, often relying on ad-hoc methods like WhatsApp chats and scattered PDFs.

Recently, we’ve rolled out a new document upload system designed to address these challenges head-on. This feature allows users to seamlessly upload various project files, categorize them for easier retrieval, and track different versions to ensure everyone stays on the same page. With a straightforward interface, it emphasizes speed and reliability without sacrificing usability.

Built on a robust stack of Laravel 12 and React (Inertia), the upload process currently utilizes local storage for simplicity. Our focus remains on delivering a solution that tackles real-world pain points experienced by small construction teamsโ€”such as disorganized file sharing and limited version control.

As we continue to develop BuildFlow, we’re eager to hear insights from the community. How could we further enhance the user experience? What strategies would you recommend to support scaling file storage as the platform grows? Your feedback will be invaluable in refining this tool to better serve construction professionals everywhere.
