I Developed a Scrum Poker App Because Existing Options Were Overloaded with Ads, Not Free, or Limited

Introducing a Clean, No-Ads Scrum Poker Tool for Agile Teams

In the world of agile project management, estimating story points efficiently is crucial for a smooth workflow. Many existing Scrum poker applications are cluttered with ads, come with restrictive features, or require costly subscriptionsโ€”making them less than ideal for everyday use.

To address these issues, I developed a straightforward, ad-free Scrum poker web app designed to facilitate seamless team estimations. Our tool allows team members to join as guests and cast their votes on story points for various user storiesโ€”making the estimation process simple, accessible, and free from distractions.

While my team previously used a popular Scrum poker solution, it was often marred by intrusive ads, and ad blockers were inconsistent in blocking them. Additionally, browser restrictionsโ€”particularly within controlled corporate environmentsโ€”limited our options, preventing us from using certain browsers.

My goal with this project was to create a niche yet valuable tool that reduces the reliance on subscription-based services and enhances team collaboration without the typical clutter. Building this app also provided an excellent opportunity to explore the Mercure protocol, helping me deepen my understanding of real-time web communication.

I look forward to refining this tool further and possibly developing more niche apps aimed at making internet-based work tools more accessible and user-friendly.
