Introducing yWhois: An Advanced IP, Domain, and ASN Lookup Tool Powered by RDAP
In today’s digital landscape, accurate and efficient domain and IP information retrieval is essential for developers, security professionals, and network administrators alike. To that end, I am excited to share an updated version of my project, yWhois โ a comprehensive platform that leverages RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) to provide detailed insights into domains, IP addresses, and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs).
Since its initial launch last year, yWhois has undergone significant improvements to enhance performance and reliability. One notable challenge was managing high traffic volumes, which occasionally led to rate-limiting issues. To address this, I incorporated multiple worker servers to distribute the load more effectively, ensuring faster response times and minimized service interruptions.
Despite the progress, I still find the API usage limits imposed by some registrar RDAP servers somewhat limiting for a service designed to serve as a modern alternative to traditional WHOIS. Itโs somewhat surprising that the API quotas remain quite restrictive for what should be a universally accessible, public API. Nonetheless, I remain optimistic that these issues will improve over time.
