Introducing LiftKit: An Open-Source Design System Inspired by the Golden Ratio
Over the past year and a half, I have dedicated myself to developing a innovative design system that brings a sense of “oddly satisfying” harmony to user interfaces. Today, I’m thrilled to announce that LiftKit is officially available to the public as an open-source project!
A little background: I’m a freelance database administrator operating under the name Chainlift. Last year, I created a YouTube video titled “The Secret Science of Perfect Spacing,” which briefly gained traction within the UI design community. The positive response to that video motivated me to expand this concept into a comprehensive, usable design system, now known as LiftKit.
LiftKit is built around the idea of delivering visually pleasing UI components through a unique, globally scalable framework rooted in the golden ratio. This approach results in interfaces that feel naturally balanced and “satisfying” to interact with.
Currently, LiftKit supports integration with Next.js and React, making it accessible for modern web development projects. As an early-stage platform, it still has room to grow, but I believe users will find its capabilities inspiring and engaging.
Key Features of LiftKit include:
– An intuitive theme control interface utilizing Material 3 dynamic color schemes (demo video)
– Modular, scalable UI components designed for ease of customization and consistency

Looking ahead, my priorities include developing a live playground environment for hands-on testing of sample applications built with LiftKit and gathering community feedback to shape future improvements.
This initial release, version 1.0.0, is just the beginning. I invite you to explore what LiftKit offers and share your thoughts — your input is invaluable as we continue to evolve this innovative design system.
