How would you define artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. These processes can include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (the ability to make deductions and decisions based on that information), and self-correction. AI encompasses a variety of subfields, including Machine Learning, natural language processing, robotics, and computer vision.

AI systems can be classified as either narrow AI, designed to perform a specific task (such as language translation or facial recognition), or general AI, which would possess the ability to understand, learn, and apply knowledge across a wide range of tasks, much like a human. Current AI technology predominantly consists of narrow AI.

The applications of AI are vast and continue to grow, impacting industries such as healthcare, finance, transportation, and entertainment by enhancing efficiency, improving decision-making, and enabling outcomes previously unattainable. However, the rapid advancement of AI technology also raises ethical considerations and challenges related to privacy, employment, and the potential for misuse.
