How would you define artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (using rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions), and self-correction. AI can be classified into two broad categories: narrow AI, which is designed to perform a specific task, and general AI, which has the ability to understand and reason about the world in a way that rivals human cognitive processes. Examples of narrow AI include speech recognition systems, image classification tools, and recommendation algorithms. In contrast, general AI remains largely theoretical and encompasses a more complex, adaptive intelligence. AI technologies often leverage techniques such as Machine Learning, where algorithms improve through experience and data analysis, and neural networks, which mimic the human brain’s connectivity. Overall, AI has a wide array of applications across multiple domains, including healthcare, finance, transportation, and everyday consumer products, continually transforming how we interact with technology.
