Exciting Redesign: My Agency Website Gets a Fresh Look
After five years, I made the decision to give my agency website a much-needed overhaul. I focused on not just updating the aesthetics but also revitalizing the branding. Today, I’m thrilled to share the results with all of you!
A New Look Powered by 11ty
I built the site using HTML and CSS, leveraging the 11ty static site generator to ensure swift performance. I’m proud to report that it achieved a perfect page speed score of 100/100! You can check it out for yourself at Oak Harbor Web Designs.
Dark Mode Delights
One of my favorite features is the implementation of dark mode. When activated, it offers an enchanting experience. After a brief eight-second wait, you’ll be surprised by a fun Easter egg animation in the hero section on desktop.
Additionally, when hovering over the service cards in dark mode, an icon box transforms into a glowing moon while the card background transforms into a starry night sky. It’s a small detail, but it adds a touch of magic to the user experience. At the bottom of the page, the call-to-action section lights up like a billboard, complete with flickering animations triggered by toggling dark mode on and off.
Content That Connects
In terms of content strategy, I focused on crafting headers that resonate with the desires and needs of small businesses. Phrases like “Never worry about your site again” and “Get the website you’ve always wanted” were designed to speak directly to potential clients. The homepage emphasizes conversions, while the interior pages are optimized for search engine rankings—like this one: SEO Services in Hammond.
On the SEO front, I’m collaborating with my expert to create additional pages targeting various local markets. A pro tip we discovered is that Google seems to favor a nested URL structure. Pages with URLs like /location/service performed better than generic /service URLs, so it’s prudent to reflect this in your Web Design.
Streamlined Management with 11ty and Decap CMS
For easy blog management, I’ve integrated Decap CMS with 11ty. This allows for seamless updates through a user-friendly dashboard. The homepage automatically refreshes to display the three most recent blog posts, maintaining a clean and current appearance.
