Enhancing Construction Project Management: Developing a Document Upload Workflow for BuildFlow

As part of my ongoing efforts to streamline construction project management, Iโ€™m excited to share a recent development in my side project, BuildFlowโ€”a tailored solution designed specifically for small construction teams, such as contractors and site supervisors.

One of the key features Iโ€™ve just implemented is a comprehensive document upload system. This feature allows users to seamlessly add essential files like architectural plans, contractual documents, and progress reports. Notably, it supports categorization, version control, and displays upload details, including the responsible team member. The interface is straightforward and quick to use, ensuring minimal hassle during busy workdays.

The development was achieved using Laravel 12 paired with React via Inertia, with files stored locally during initial testing phases. My goal was to create a lightweight, no-frills process aligned with the real-world needs of small teamsโ€”addressing common pain points such as scattered communication over WhatsApp, disorganized PDFs, and insufficient version tracking.

I welcome insights on how to enhance the user experience further or strategies for efficiently scaling the upload capabilities as BuildFlow grows. Your feedback would be invaluable as I continue refining this tool to better serve construction professionals.
