Built a real-time status monitor for developer tools – feedback wanted

Introducing DevTools.ink: A Real-Time Developer Tool Status Dashboard โ€“ Feedback Welcome!

As developers, staying informed about the current status of critical platforms like GitHub, npm, Vercel, Docker Hub, and AWS is essential for smooth workflows. Frustrated by slow GitHub Actions and uncertain if the platform was experiencing downtime, I decided to create a solution โ€” a straightforward, real-time status monitoring tool for essential developer services.

Check it out here: https://devtools.ink

What Does DevTools.ink Offer?

  • Live Status Updates: Instantly see the operational status of major services such as GitHub, npm, Vercel, Docker Hub, and AWS.
  • Quick Access URLs: Use simple links like devtools.ink/github to quickly verify status without navigating multiple dashboards.
  • ChatGPT Integration: Ask questions like “Is GitHub down?” and receive immediate, accurate responses.
  • Pure and Minimalist: No intrusive ads โ€” just clean, real-time status information curated for developers.

Underlying Technology

The platform is built with Next.js 14 for a robust frontend, utilizes Redis via Upstash for fast data caching, and leverages n8n workflows for automation and data fetching efficiency.

Practical Example

Recently, I noticed npm was acting sluggish. A quick check on DevTools.ink revealed it was a regional outage, saving me approximately 20 minutes of unnecessary troubleshooting. The ease of access and real-time updates proved invaluable.

Your Feedback

I’m eager to hear from fellow developers! Are there additional tools or services you’d like to see included? How can this dashboard better serve your development workflow?

Your input will help shape the future of this project. Feel free to explore, test, and share your thoughts!

Happy coding!
