Introducing a Simple, Ad-Free Scrum Poker Tool for Agile Teams
In the world of agile project management, effective planning and team collaboration are essential. However, finding a reliable, free, and unobtrusive Scrum poker application can often be a challenge. Many existing tools are cluttered with ads, come with restrictions, or require subscriptions that add to the cost and complexity.
To address this gap, I developed a straightforward Scrum poker web app designed to facilitate quick and anonymous voting on story points during sprint planning. The goal was to create a no-frills, user-friendly platform that teams can access easily without the distraction of ads or limitations.
My team previously used another popular tool, but the presence of ads was disruptive and sometimes unreliable, especially since browser restrictions prevented us from fully utilizing ad blockers or certain browsers like Brave. With this project, I aimed to deliver a clean, accessible alternative that works seamlessly across different environments.
Beyond just providing a useful tool, this project was an excellent learning experience. I integrated Mercure, a real-time communication protocol, which helped deepen my understanding of its capabilities and implementation.
Ultimately, I hope this initiative encourages more niche, open-source solutions that break free from subscription traps and reliance on ad-heavy platforms.
