Creating an API to Identify Website Technology Stacks — Introducing StackLens

Introducing StackLens: An API for Detecting Website Technology Stacks

In the ever-evolving world of web development, understanding the underlying technologies of a website can be both insightful and valuable. Today, I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on — StackLens, an API designed to identify the technology stack of any website through a simple HTTP request.

What is StackLens?
StackLens is a lightweight, efficient API that scans and detects various components of a website, including content management systems (CMS), e-commerce platforms, analytics tools, and other integrated technologies. Built as a personal learning project to deepen my understanding of API development, I wanted to create a tool that could assist developers, marketers, and analysts in quickly assessing website infrastructures.

How Does It Work?
Simply provide the URL of the website, and StackLens returns detailed insights into the technologies in use. It’s ideal for competitive analysis, tech audits, or just satisfying your curiosity about how a site is built.

Availability & Plans
To make it accessible for different needs, I’ve included a free tier offering up to 50 lookups per day — perfect for experimentation and small-scale projects. For larger inquiries or bulk analyses, paid plans are available.

Join the Community
I invite developers and web enthusiasts to give StackLens a try. Your feedback is invaluable — whether it’s suggestions for new features, improvements in detection accuracy, or integration tips. My goal is to make this tool as useful as possible for the development community.
