How can artificial intelligence (AI) be defined?

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, particularly computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (the ability to infer or deduce new information), and self-correction. AI encompasses a variety of techniques and technologies that enable machines to carry out tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as speech recognition, visual perception, decision-making, and language translation.

There are two primary types of AI: narrow AI and general AI. Narrow AI is designed to perform specific tasks, such as voice assistants like Siri or chatbots. In contrast, general AI, which is still largely theoretical, would be capable of performing any intellectual task that a human can do, exhibiting human-like cognitive abilities.

AI technologies include machine learning, where algorithms improve through experience, and deep learning, which utilizes neural networks to analyze and learn from large amounts of data. AI is increasingly integrating into various sectors, including healthcare, finance, transportation, and entertainment, enhancing efficiency and enabling new applications.
