How can we define artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, particularly computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (the ability to use rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions), and self-correction. AI can be categorized into two main types: narrow AI, which is designed and trained for specific tasks such as voice recognition or image processing; and general AI, which refers to systems that possess the ability to perform any intellectual task that a human can do.

AI systems utilize various techniques, including machine learning, where algorithms are trained on data to learn patterns and make decisions, and deep learning, which employs neural networks with many layers to process data and generate improvements in accuracy and performance. AI technologies are employed across numerous fields, including healthcare, finance, transportation, and entertainment, where they enhance operations, provide insights, and improve user experiences. Over the years, AI has evolved significantly, driven by advancements in computational power, data availability, and innovative algorithms, making it a transformative force in modern society.
