How can we define artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the development of computer systems that are capable of performing tasks typically requiring human intelligence. These tasks include problem-solving, understanding natural language, recognizing patterns, learning from past experiences, and making decisions. AI is a broad field that encompasses various subdomains, including Machine Learning, natural language processing, robotics, and computer vision.

Machine Learning, a subset of AI, involves algorithms that allow computers to learn from and make predictions based on data. Natural language processing enables computers to understand, interpret, and respond to human language in a way that is both meaningful and contextually relevant. Robotics focuses on creating machines that can interact with the physical world, while computer vision allows systems to interpret and understand visual information from the environment.

AI applications are widespread and can be found in various industries, such as healthcare, finance, transportation, and entertainment. Examples include virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa, recommendation algorithms on streaming services, autonomous vehicles, and diagnostic tools in medicine. The goal of AI research is to create systems that can enhance human capabilities and improve efficiency, although ethical considerations surrounding AI deployment and its impact on society continue to be important areas of discussion.
