How would you define artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, particularly computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (the use of rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions), and self-correction. AI can be categorized into two main types: narrow AI, which is designed and trained for a specific task (such as facial recognition or language translation), and general AI, which possesses the capability to understand, learn, and apply intelligence across a wide range of tasks, similar to human cognitive abilities.

AI technologies are powered by complex algorithms, often leveraging large datasets to identify patterns and make decisions based on that information. Key areas of AI research include Machine Learning (where systems improve their performance over time through experience), natural language processing (which allows machines to understand and interact using human language), and robotics (the creation of machines that can interact with the physical world). AI has applications across various fields, including healthcare, finance, transportation, and entertainment, significantly influencing how we work and live.
