How would you define artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by computer systems and software. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (the use of rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions), and self-correction. AI can be categorized into two main types: narrow AI, which is designed for a specific task (such as voice recognition or playing chess), and general AI, which would possess the ability to understand, learn, and apply intelligence across a wide range of tasks, similar to human capabilities.

AI technologies often utilize Machine Learning, where algorithms improve through exposure to data. Deep Learning, a subset of Machine Learning that uses neural networks with multiple layers, has advanced the capabilities of AI in tasks such as image and speech recognition. The applications of AI are vast and include automation, data analysis, natural language processing, robotics, and more, transforming industries and influencing everyday activities. As AI continues to evolve, ethical considerations and the impact on jobs and society are increasingly important topics of discussion.
