Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, particularly computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (the ability to solve problems through logical deduction), and self-correction. AI can be classified into two main categories: narrow AI, which is designed to perform a narrow task (like facial recognition or internet searches), and general AI, which aims to understand or learn any intellectual task that a human can do.
Techniques used in AI include machine learning, where algorithms improve their performance as they are fed more data; natural language processing, which enables machines to understand and interpret human language; and neural networks, which are inspired by the human brain’s structure and function, enabling machines to recognize patterns and make decisions. AI applications are widespread, spanning industries such as healthcare, finance, transportation, and entertainment, and they continue to develop and evolve as technology advances.
