I developed a new Scrum Poker app because existing options were overloaded with ads, lacked free access, or had limitations.

Introducing a No-Ads Scrum Poker Tool for Agile Teams

In the realm of Agile software development, effective planning sessions often rely on tools like Scrum Poker to facilitate consensus on story point estimations. Recognizing the limitations of existing optionsโ€”particularly excessive advertisements, paywalls, and restrictive usage policiesโ€”I developed a straightforward, ad-free Scrum Poker application designed to enhance team collaboration without the distractions or restrictions.

This lightweight web app allows team members to join as guests and cast votes on story points for various user stories, streamlining the planning process. Built with a focus on simplicity and accessibility, it requires no account creation or sign-in, making it easy for teams to adopt immediately.

The motivation behind this project stemmed from my teamโ€™s experience with other tools that, despite their features, were marred by intrusive ads or limited browser compatibilityโ€”especially problematic given our restrictions on certain browsers like Brave. My goal was to create a more seamless, free alternative that eliminates these hurdles.

Beyond the practical benefits, this project provided an excellent opportunity to deepen my understanding of real-time communication protocolsโ€”particularly Mercure. Building this app has been both a practical solution and a valuable learning experience.

I plan to continue developing niche tools aimed at making internet usage more straightforward and less reliant on subscriptionsโ€”keeping essential tools accessible and unobtrusive for everyone.
