Enhancing Accessibility for Londonโs Free Cinema Events: A Redesigned Movie Schedule
London residents and visitors alike are in for a treat this summer, with a series of free movies showing daily near Kingโs Cross until August 17th. However, navigating the official schedule has proven to be a challenge for many, owing to its bright red color scheme and small font size, which hinder readability and ease of use.
Recognizing the need for a clearer, more user-friendly interface, I took the initiative to develop an improved movie schedule that makes it easier for audiences to discover and plan their cinema outings. The new websiteโa dedicated platform accessible hereโaims to provide a straightforward, visually appealing, and comprehensive overview of the event’s screenings.
Why I Created a New Schedule
The official schedule, hosted on Everyman Cinemaโs website, presents information in a manner that can be hard to decipher quickly. The bright red theme and small text require users to strain their eyes and often leads to confusion about movie times and details. To address these issues, I designed a simplified, organized layout that enhances readability and user experience.
Technical Insights
In developing the site, I explored the use of Astro, a modern static site builder known for its performance and simplicity. This was my first time working with Astro, and I found the experience to be very positiveโits features allowed me to create a clean and responsive design efficiently.
