I saw a meme about “Sinkedin – a Linkedin for posting failures”, so I actually built it

Introducing Sinkedin: A Community Platform for Sharing Career Oops Moments

In the world of professional networking, LinkedIn has become the go-to platform for showcasing achievements and career milestones. But what if there was a space dedicated to the less glamorous side of professional lifeโ€”your mistakes, mishaps, and embarrassing moments? Thatโ€™s exactly the idea that inspired the creation of Sinkedin.

Recently, I came across a humorous meme proposing the concept of โ€œSinkedinโ€โ€”a LinkedIn equivalent designed exclusively for sharing failures. The idea stuck with me, and driven by curiosity and a bit of coding enthusiasm, I decided to bring it to life.

Today, Iโ€™m excited to announce that Sinkedin is officially live at sinkedin.app.

What is Sinkedin?

Sinkedin is a dedicated platform where users can openly post their work blunders, career slip-ups, or every day embarrassments. For those who prefer privacy, there is also an option to share anonymously. Itโ€™s a space to laugh, learn, and destigmatize the inevitable setbacks we face in our professional journeys.

A Few Notes Before You Dive In

  • Interface and Usability: Full disclosureโ€”I am not a professional designer. The user interface is a work in progress, and I appreciate your patience. If youโ€™re someone with an eye for design and find the current look a bit rough, I welcome your suggestions or improvements. The projectโ€™s code is available on GitHub: https://github.com/Preet-Sojitra/sinkedin.

  • Performance: The platform is hosted on free-tier hosting services, so it might be a bit slow or occasionally quirky. Think of it as a DIY project built with a lot of hope and a little duct tapeโ€”thanks for understanding!

Iโ€™d love to hear your feedback, report any bugs you encounter, or better yet, see you share your own first failure. Letโ€™s normalize the reality that everyone makes mistakesโ€”so why not share them and maybe even have a bit of fun?

Join the community and start posting your slips at Sinkedin!
