Is Cloudflare suitable for web hosting purposes?

Cloudflare is predominantly known as a content delivery network (CDN) and DDoS mitigation service, rather than a traditional web hosting provider. Cloudflare’s main functions include improving website performance, enhancing security, providing fast and reliable DNS, and optimizing resource delivery to users through its global network of servers.

Cloudflare does not host your website’s content in the conventional sense. Instead, it acts as a proxy between the client and the web server where your site is hosted, caching static content to reduce server load and improve speed. It also offers various security features, such as protecting against malicious attacks and managing secure connections.

For hosting your website, you still require either a conventional web host or a cloud hosting solution to store your files and databases. While Cloudflare is an excellent choice to enhance performance and security as an additional layer over your existing hosting solution, it is not a standalone web hosting service.

For those considering Cloudflare, it’s advisable to integrate it with your current web hosting setup to benefit from its CDN, security enhancements, and performance optimizations while your primary content resides on a traditional web server or in the cloud.
