It Took Two Years to Launch This Simple Website — Not Due to Technical Challenges, and I’m Very Proud of the Outcome

Celebrating a Personal Milestone: My Two-Year Journey to Launch a Minimalist Website

After two years of dedicated effort, I am thrilled to unveil my latest project—a simple yet meaningful website that truly reflects my vision and growth. The journey wasn’t driven by complex technology or elaborate frameworks but by a desire to craft something authentic for myself, demonstrating that sometimes simplicity and intent matter most.

A Personal Reflection on Creativity and Persistence

This project wasn’t born overnight. It took me two years to bring it to life—not because of technical hurdles, but because I needed the right mindset and focus to see it through. I’ve often been involved in collaborative efforts that promised innovation, only to fall short when faced with challenging questions or focused execution. That experience was exhausting, prompting me to create something solely for my own expression.

The Why Behind This Creation

This website is a handcrafted sanctuary—a space for my voice to be heard and my ideas to be seen. I deliberately chose a lightweight approach, avoiding heavy dependencies and flashy tools, to stay true to the principle that less can indeed be more.

Technical Foundations

  • Core Technologies: Built with straightforward React.js in combination with Markdown for content rendering. No reliance on CSS frameworks, analytics, trackers, or SEO plugins. I wanted this to be a clean canvas, free from unnecessary distractions.

  • Features and Customizations:

  • Custom-styled Markdown to enhance readability.
  • Procedural background generation, initially CPU-bound, with plans to leverage WebGPU for better performance.
  • Theme awareness that adapts to different viewing modes, though working across all browsers, especially WebKit engines, has been challenging—any tips are welcome!
  • Integration of pdf.js enables embedded PDF viewing, with ongoing efforts to refine style consistency across platforms.
  • An Easter egg hidden within the site offers an intriguing surprise—feedback and discoveries from visitors are greatly appreciated.
  • Content is presented as commit-like posts, with potential future integration of a CMS for easier maintenance.
  • Acknowledgment of the design’s energetic nature, with considerations for a “low chaos” mode aimed at those sensitive to motion or dizziness.

The Road Ahead

While the site remains a work in progress—glitchy at times and still evolving—I am immensely proud of what has been achieved. It’s a reflection of perseverance and a testament to building something meaningful from the ground up.
