Seeking guidance.

Request for Guidance

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re having a great day!

I run a WordPress blog dedicated to a specific variety of fish, and I write in Spanish. In my spare time, I’m focused on creating posts to practice SEO techniques and enhance my site’s visibility.

Currently, my Google Search Console stats for the last 28 days are as follows:

  • Total Clicks: 102
  • Total Impressions: 2.66K
  • Average CTR: 3.8%
  • Average Position: 9.9

My website features 5 main pages and 8 blog posts, and Iโ€™m eager to increase my traffic. However, I’ve encountered challenges in finding Spanish websites for backlink opportunities. Many forums prohibit personal links, and most fish-related blogs are run by aquarium shops.

My strategy is to keep producing high-quality posts with visuals until I reach a minimum of 20 blog posts. I also utilize Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit to promote my content and generate traffic back to my site.

The downside is that my niche is quite specific, concentrating on a fish that isnโ€™t widely recognized in Spain but is popular in Japan and the USA. The upside is that I have little direct competition, primarily just pet shop sites that sell this fish.

I would greatly appreciate any advice you might have regarding my blogging approach. I initially planned to focus solely on content about this specific fish, but I’m contemplating whether it would be beneficial to broaden my topics to include general aquarium themes and link back to the specific fish.

What do you think? Your insights would be invaluable!

  1. Good afternoon!

It sounds like youโ€™ve done a solid job so far with your blog, especially focusing on SEO and content creation. Here are a few suggestions to help you increase traffic and engagement:

    1. Continue Focusing on Your Niche: Since your niche is very specific, it might be beneficial to continue concentrating on this particular fish. Creating in-depth content that explores various aspects of this fishโ€”such as care guides, breeding tips, habitat information, and unique characteristicsโ€”can help position you as an authority in this area.

    2. Consider Related Topics: While focusing on your specific fish, you can also create content around related topics that might attract a broader audience. For example, you could write about compatible tank mates, tank setup tips for specific environments, or the role of this fish in aquascaping. This approach could help you capture a wider audience while still linking back to your main focus.

    3. Leverage Social Media: Itโ€™s great that youโ€™re using multiple platforms to share your content. Enhance your presence on these platforms by engaging with relevant communities. You can join fishkeeping groups, follow influencers in the aquatics niche, and participate in discussions to promote your content organically.

    4. Networking and Community Building: Try to build relationships with other bloggers, influencers, and fishkeeping communities, even if they arenโ€™t focused on your specific fish. Commenting on their posts, sharing their content, and reaching out for collaborations or guest posts can lead to valuable backlinks and more visibility for your site.

    5. Backlink Strategies: While it may be challenging to find Spanish websites for backlinks, consider contributing to blogs or forums that discuss broader aquarium topics. You can provide valuable insights and include a link back to your site where relevant. Additionally, look for online aquarium-related communities in Spanish-speaking countries that might appreciate your niche content.

    6. Analyze Your Competitors: Although direct competition may be limited, look at what successful aquarium blogs are doing. Analyze their content, backlink strategies, and engagement techniques to see if there are lessons you can apply to your own blog.

    7. Join Fishkeeping Forums: Even if personal links arenโ€™t allowed, you can still participate actively in discussions. By helping others and establishing your expertise, you can encourage people to check out your blog due to the value you provide.

    8. Optimize for Local SEO: If you target specific regions or cities in Spain, consider optimizing some of your posts for local SEO. This could bring relevant traffic from your locale, especially if thereโ€™s an interest in aquariums in your area.

    9. Emphasize Visual Content: Since fishkeeping is a highly visual hobby, ensure your blog posts are rich in images and videos. You can create how-to videos for YouTube or engaging posts on Instagram to attract more visitors.

    10. Patience and Persistence: Lastly, growing traffic takes time, especially in a niche market. Keep creating quality content, engaging with your audience, and optimizing your site.

Best of luck with your blog! You’re on the right track, so keep pushing forward and experimenting with different strategies.

  2. Hello!

First off, I want to commend you for your initiative in focusing on a niche that, while unique, can certainly attract a dedicated audience. Your statistics indicate youโ€™re on the right path, especially with a respectable CTR and average position.

Regarding your question about broadening your topics, I believe it could be a valuable strategy. Expanding your content to include general aquarium themes could not only enhance your site’s authority in the broader space but can also serve as effective content to funnel readers toward your specific fish. For instance, you could write about general tank maintenance, water quality, or compatible species, while cleverly weaving in mentions of your niche fishโ€”perhaps even highlighting its unique needs or characteristics in those contexts.

Moreover, consider collaborating with other content creators in the aquarist community, even those whose primary focus may not be your niche fish. Guest posts or joint projects can be mutually beneficial for sharing audiences and increasing visibility. Additionally, engaging with relevant groups on social media platforms can lead to natural backlink opportunities as members begin to recognize your expertise.

Finally, as you continue developing visual content, consider tutorials or guides that leverage platforms like YouTube. Visual learning is significant in the aquarium hobby, and direct visual engagement can pique audience interest and drive traffic to your blog.

Best of luck with your blog! Feel free to share your progress as you implement these strategiesโ€”Iโ€™m eager to see how your traffic evolves!
