Reviving the Spirit of the Early Internet with a Nostalgic Voting Website
In today’s digital landscape, the internet often feels overwhelmed by endless likes, comments, intrusive ads, and a relentless stream of clickbait. Two friends—former schoolmates now in our 40s—found ourselves reminiscing about the internet’s earlier days, when it was a vibrant space built by passionate individuals sharing their interests without the noise.
Inspired by those simpler times, we decided to create a platform that captures that nostalgic essence. Introducing Pick One From Two — a straightforward, retro-inspired website designed for pure, fun engagement.
Our site offers a clean and easy-to-use interface where users can vote between two options on any topic they enjoy—be it sports, movies, food, TV shows, travel, and more. Want to see how the community votes? Simply compare results. Feel like a challenge? Try our “Tournament Mode” to narrow down options until only one winner remains.
Our goal is to foster a positive environment where creators and enthusiasts can connect over shared interests, free from the influence of social media’s pitfalls. We’re committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
As we continue to develop the platform, we welcome your feedback. How can we enhance the experience without turning it into a source of annoying ads? Do you have ideas for sustainable monetization that respect the user’s experience? How can we grow our community while keeping the site free of unnecessary social media features?
Built with Laravel and Inertia, our project aims to preserve the joy of simple, genuine internet interactions. We’re excited to hear your thoughts and help shape a digital space rooted in positivity and shared interests.
