yWhois – IP, Domain, ASN Information Lookup Using RDAP (Updated Version)

Enhancing Domain and IP Lookup Capabilities with yWhois: An Updated Tool for Modern DNS Queries

In the rapidly evolving landscape of cybersecurity and domain management, having access to reliable, comprehensive lookup tools is essential. Recently, I revisited yWhois, a project dedicated to delivering detailed IP, domain, and ASN information through RDAP protocols. Since its initial launch, significant improvements have been implemented to enhance its performance and reliability.

One of the key challenges faced early on was dealing with API rate limiting, especially during high traffic periods. To address this, the system now incorporates multiple worker servers, distributing the load and ensuring smoother, uninterrupted access for users. This upgrade aims to provide a more resilient and efficient experience, solidifying yWhois as a valuable resource for domain registrars, IT professionals, and cybersecurity enthusiasts.

Despite the demand for a modern, standardized alternative to traditional WHOIS queries, some public RDAP APIs still impose restrictive usage limits. It’s somewhat surprising that a registrar’s RDAP service would have such low API quotas, considering its purpose as a public API designed to facilitate broader access to DNS and registration data. Nonetheless, ongoing improvements continue to make yWhois a more robust tool for information retrieval.
