Introducing yWhois: A Modern Tool for IP, Domain, and ASN Lookup with RDAP

In today’s digital landscape, efficient and reliable access to domain and IP information is essential. Recently, I enhanced yWhois, a comprehensive lookup service that leverages RDAP technology, to provide faster and more dependable results.

Originally launched last year, yWhois has undergone significant updates to improve performance and scalability. One of the key challenges faced was managing rate-limiting issues during peak usage times. To address this, I integrated multiple worker servers into the infrastructure, ensuring smoother handling of concurrent requests and minimizing delays.

It’s somewhat surprising that a registration authority’s RDAP server imposes such conservative API usage limits—considering RDAP is designed as a modern, standardized replacement for the classic WHOIS protocol. Despite this, I remain committed to advocating for more generous access policies to foster an open and transparent domain ecosystem.
