Introducing yWhois: An Advanced IP, Domain, and ASN Lookup Tool with RDAP Integration

When it comes to internet infrastructure, accurate and efficient lookups are essential for network administrators, developers, and cybersecurity professionals alike. Recently, I revisited a project I initially shared last year, enhancing its capabilities to better serve users.

The platform, yWhois, offers comprehensive querying of IP addresses, domains, and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) through modern RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) technology—an increasingly popular alternative to traditional WHOIS, designed to be more structured and developer-friendly.

In response to user demand and high site traffic, I’ve implemented multiple worker servers to mitigate rate-limiting issues that previously hampered performance during peak times. While it’s somewhat surprising that the RDAP API provided by many registrars enforces such low usage limits—given that it’s meant to be a public API streamlining domain and IP data retrieval—I’ve taken steps to improve the user experience despite these constraints.
