Introducing yWhois: An Enhanced Tool for IP, Domain, and ASN Lookup Using RDAP

In the ever-evolving landscape of domain management and network information retrieval, having reliable and scalable tools is essential. I’m excited to share updates on yWhois, a project dedicated to providing comprehensive IP, domain, and Autonomous System Number (ASN) lookups through the modern RDAP protocol.

Since its initial launch last year, yWhois has seen several significant improvements. One notable challenge was managing high traffic volumes, which occasionally led to rate-limiting issues. To address this, we’ve implemented a multiple-server worker architecture that ensures smoother performance and better handling of peak loads. This upgrade aims to deliver a more seamless user experience, even during busy periods.

It’s somewhat surprising that a registrar’s RDAP service would impose stringent API rate limits, especially considering its purpose as a contemporary alternative to the traditional WHOIS system. Nevertheless, we remain committed to enhancing the platform and advocating for more generous access policies.
