Are Google certificates a worthwhile foundation?

I just graduated from college with a degree in archaeology that isn’t exactly impressive, and I don’t intend to pursue a career in that field. There’s a long story behind my choice, but now I’m focused on enhancing my qualifications for a new job. I recently began the Google Digital Marketing course on Coursera. While I don’t anticipate it will directly lead to a job, I’m curious— is this a good starting point? What other steps can I take? Or should I reconsider this path altogether?
